This immersive weekend programme is designed for practitioners and teachers of all levels who are eager to deepen their understanding of yoga asana, enhance their strength and flexibility, and master the art of asanas including arm balances, handstands, and vinyasa.

Alex is a yoga teacher and licensed medical doctor; over the course of his apprenticeship he developed his own way of teaching yoga, a non-rigid and modern form based on a scientific understanding of movement and of the body. His classes contain elements from many styles of yoga along with his unique touch of creativity and play.
Alex uses his profound anatomical and physiological knowledge to adapt his guidance to the unique physiognomy of each of his students, herewith creating a safe environment for all to freely express their body wisdom through movement.
He is currently based in Berlin, Germany, but teaches workshops, trainings and festivals internationally.

Join Alex in his signature vinyasa introduction. As we open every channel and dissolve resistance in the body, we allow the feeling of wholeness to take over, not only unity of self, but also of all others around us. This is the meaning of Yoga. Through various asanas and mindful transitions, you will progress into this journey of self exploration.
Alex’s teaching is a combination of many styles, uniquely constructed for you to experience the right balance of openness, focus and playfulness. Expect some chanting, sweat, laughter and a few upside down moments.
MECHANICS OF BALANCE
This workshop is all about finding ease in your arm balance practice. Through a mix of flowing vinyasa, theory and drills, you will learn to embody the principle of skill over strength. Alex will share how to build subtle body awareness and increased proprioception to make entering any arm balance feel like a simple lean off the ground.
Through the practice of principles such as calibration, rocking and the proper use of alignement, you will understand how to make your body work with you and not against you on your journey to balance.
Time will be dedicated for the exploration of the shoulder anatomy. An integrated yoga flow and some partner work will allow for a more holistic understanding of the act of balancing on the arms.
THE INITIATION - HANDSTAND EXPLORATION
Getting upside down can be a tricky experience! Hence overcoming the fear and developing the adequate physical support are going to be your main allies on this fun journey.
In this introduction to handstand, you will build the components of a solid foundation for balance. Using the wall and partner work, you will understand body positioning, arm support and how to use your core and legs for a steady and fruitful progression.
Alex will assist you in finding which approach suits you best on this journey, and how to make it a fun and enjoyable process.
Connect the dots between your yoga practice and your life by incorporating the principles of yogic philosophy and explore why your personal practice can have a huge impact on the world around you. Alex will share his insights on one of the key precepts of yoga, how to live a life of compassion and the infinite strength you can find when living in line with your values. You will then flow through a moving meditation to turn those intellectual principles into an embodied reality.
