Power at the Edge of Comfort: Embracing Change in Guatemala

This is an open invitation to everyone, no matter your background or yoga level — if you're someone who enjoys a challenge, seeks adventure, and loves movement; you are invited.

Every corner of this Central American gem beckons with an enchanting allure, promising a journey that transcends the ordinary.

Guatemala, a mesmerising tapestry of natural wonders and cultural richness. Adorned by mountain ranges, volcanic peaks, and valleys of fertile abundance. The soil, enriched by the minerals bestowed by active and dormant volcanoes, creates a nurturing foundation for the flourish of luxuriant vegetation.

The country's heart resonates with ancient Mayan history, evident in the awe-inspiring ruins of Tikal, where mighty temples emerge from the jungle canopy.

Guatemala embraces a commitment to environmental stewardship. Through the preservation of protected areas and dedicated efforts in conservation, it's verdant beauty remains protected. Biodiversity and natural habitats are cherished, rendering Guatemala a haven where lush landscapes stand as living poetry. Nature enthusiasts find solace in dense rainforests that teem with biodiversity. However, Guatemala's beauty isn't just visual; it emanates from the warmth of its people, their rich traditions, and the profound spirituality that permeates the air.

what to expect

WHAT TO EXPECT

Step into the out-of-this-world landscapes surrounding Lake Atitlán in Guatemala and into the unknown. For nine days in Guatemala, we will show ourselves that it is at the edge of our comfort zones where we grow and become the best version of ourselves. We will learn how to enable ourselves and harness the power that already lies within us.

Each day, whilst the sunrises, we will prepare our minds and bodies in our morning vinyasa, in a shala that overlooks the stunning lake and it's towering volcanoes. Afternoon workshops such as handstands and arm balances, help us build strength and offer wisdom on how to affirm our own abilities and embrace new experiences. Evening yoga sessions with soothing flows and deep stretches will help calm our minds, prepare our bodies for meditation and allow us to fall into deep, restful sleep.

In between, we will step out of the familiar and into the new by bonding with new people and their cultures on a village tour to San Juan La Laguna - the village is known as the epicenter of artisan production. There, you will tour local art galleries, watch indigenous women practice their craft of backstrap loom weaving, and a natural dye demonstration. You will also learn about local honey production, cacao cultivation, and chocolate making. The tour culminates with a hike to a beautiful lookout point in the village. A private boat will arrive to bring everyone to Panajachel where we will visit the Reserva Natural Atitlán. Here, we will immerse ourselves in the outdoors and take a short hike through waterfalls and hanging bridges. The hike will reach its peak where we will zipline through the forest. Besides adventure, you can get closer to nature's inhabitants at a butterfly house then meet rescued spider monkeys. On our penultimate day, we will give thanks to Mother Nature in a traditional Mayan tree planting ceremony. A local, indigenous spiritual practitioner will guide you through a fire ceremony, in which we will ask Mother Nature for a bountiful harvest in the coming seasons. Our group will be gifted a small tree to plant together as a gesture to Mother Nature. This will be an educational, deeply spiritual experience that promises to evoke many emotions, bringing you closer to each other and to the rhythm of nature. After nine days in Lake Atitlán, we will be ready to welcome all things new with open arms. If you find yourself often apprehensive about change, come change with us.
